The File Metadata page lets you configure when and how file metadata is synchronized between source and target hosts. You can choose to synchronize metadata in real time or only during the initial scan. Options include whether to replicate file security metadata, which types of metadata to include, and which metadata source (volume, share, export, or folder) to use for resolving conflicts during initial synchronization. This source, known as the master host, determines which version of the metadata is retained if discrepancies arise. For more information, see File Metadata Synchronization in Advanced Topics.
This page also provides additional options not available during the job creation process.
The contents of the File Metadata page vary depending on whether you are using Windows-based or Linux-based Agents for your job:
•If you selected Windows-based, proceed with SMB File Metadata.
•If you selected Linux-based, proceed with NFS File Metadata.
•If you selected multi-protocol (Windows and Linux), proceed with Multi-Protocol Metadata.
