File Metadata

The File Metadata page enables you to configure how and when file metadata is synchronized between source and target hosts.  Metadata is synchronized in real time and during scans.

Available options include specifying whether to synchronize file permissions (security metadata) and defining the metadata source (volume, share, export, or folder) to use for resolving conflicts during initial synchronization.  This designated source, referred to as the master host, determines which version of the metadata is retained when discrepancies occur.

For more information, see File Metadata Synchronization in Advanced Topics.

This page also provides additional options not available during the job creation process.

The content of the File Metadata page depends on the file-sharing protocol you selected for your job:

See SMB Protocol for details.

See NFS Protocol for details.

See Multi-Protocol for details.
