A File Synchronization job enables real-time, multi-directional synchronization across various storage platforms and locations. It is designed for non-collaborative workloads where files must remain in sync in real time across multiple locations without persistent locking. While File Synchronization jobs do temporarily lock files during synchronization to ensure data integrity when reading and writing, the lock is released once synchronization is complete. This job type is specifically optimized for user home directories and profiles.
A File Synchronization job requires at least two participants. Each participant consists of an Agent and the volume, share, export, or folder to be synchronized. A File Synchronization job synchronizes the files of participants in real-time.
